Chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that can be applied to the face, hands, and neck. It’s used to improve the appearance or feel of the skin. During this procedure, chemical solutions will be applied to the area being treated, which causes the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off. Once this happens, the new skin underneath is often smoother, appears less wrinkled, and may have less damage.
There are a number of reasons people may get chemical peels. They may be trying to treat a variety of things, including:
- wrinkles and fine lines
- sun damage
- acne scars
- uneven skin tone or redness
Mandelic acid, derived from almonds, has a very light and superficial action on the skin, has the advantage of being able to be practiced in every season as it has no side effects related to sun exposure.
At the application of mandelic acid it is possible to feel a very slight tingling. Very sensitive skin can become red, but it is now possible to apply makeup to mask the redness. Due to its little aggressive action it can be used to prepare the skin for the application of other acids or other substances, reducing its dose and side effects.
Salicylic acid is used for the treatment of skin blemishes, skin aging, skin thickening, and acne. When applied, it may cause a slight redness, a variable degree of burning, and a whitish appearance of the skin, which results from the evaporation of the solution. Repeat treatment is important in the long-term treatment especially of blemishes and acne.
It is a superficial peeling suitable for most skin types. It is used to exfoliate and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve acne-prone skin, firm and tone the skin while promoting a more luminous and uniform complexion.
Chemical peeling with TCA or Trichloroacetic acid
TCA is often used to treat wrinkles, pigmentary disorders and blemishes. In many cases the TCA peeling is not limited to the face only but also extended to the neck and other parts of the body exposed to the sun.
It is a treatment that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin dermis.
Special micro-needles are used in order to induce a cellular stimulus that increases the production of collagen and elastin in order to obtain an improvement in the brightness and compactness of the skin, the reduction of spots on the skin of the face, the attenuation of small wrinkles in the cheeks, of the perilabial region and of acne scars, stretch marks.
The medical needling includes from 3 to 4 sessions, to be performed at a distance of 45-60 days.
